about

This collection of songs is the result of me building and expanding my pedal board and my collection of plugins in Reaper, as well as my appreciation for the music of Andy Othling‘s Lowercase Noises.
Each song started with a sequence of guitar chords, some of which were introduced to quite heavy amounts of modulation and time-based effects. Once I had a temporary arrangement and somewhat of an idea for each piece, all other instruments were built upon these sequences. Besides the electric bass and sampled drums I mainly (but not exclusively) used the mandolin for melodies and harmonies.
In the end I ended up with four instrumentals, which fall somewhere in realm of ambient music (with maybe some links to Folk? Describing music based on genres has never been my strong suit).

But no matter the genre: I really hope you enjoy it. If you do, please let me know :)
And if you have any feedback, comments, suggestions, I‘m always thankful for some input. I‘m still only getting my feet wet when it comes to instrumental music, so I‘d really appreciate to hear from people who maybe have some words of wisdom for me.

P.S.: One of these tracks, namely A Way Back, has already been part of my First Steps EP, written and recorded in early 2019 as part of Bill Vencil‘s (Chords Of Orion) 5-Week-Ambient-Guitar-EP-Challenge. There it goes by the name of Unknown. I wanted to take one song from that EP and try to expand on an idea that was already some months old, maybe improve upon it. Albeit I did not really follow the rules set by Bill for that project religiously (i.e. Restrict oneself to guitar and drone), I just wanted to know if I could take it into a somewhat different direction with an expanded range of instruments.
